New Delhi: Justice Ravi Vijaykumar Malimath, the senior-most Judge of Himachal Pradesh High Court, has been appointed as the next Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh Hingh Court by the President of India. A notification to the efefct was issued by the government.
The incumbent CJ Justice Lingappa Narayana Swamy retires on June 30.
Justice Malimath, started as an Advocate in January, 1987 and practised law for over 20 years in the High Courts of Karnataka and Madras, and in the Supreme Court of India.
The CJ is particularly well-versed in Criminal, Civil, Constitutional, Company and Labour laws, exclusively specializing in Constitutional Law.
Malimath was first appointed as Additional Judge, Karnataka High Court, on February 18, 2008 and thereafter became a permanent Judge on February 17, 2010. He took up office in the Himachal Pradesh High Court in January 2019.
